@liaizon yeah that was a bit earlier, but iOS 18 was only available on XS and XR, now they gave up and released it for everyone else on 18 too

O que começou como ferramenta de publicação para #coleçõesdigitais hoje é infraestrutura para a digital cultural aberta na América Latina. Como plug-in WordPress, ampliou o acesso de instituições com poucos recursos—e agora atrai projetos com funcionalidades inovadoras: a gestão de acervos digitais no Fediverso.

The goal is to create a framework for digitally sharing museum cultural heritage collections with indigenous communities. The plan to provide aggregation partners with integrated tools to support metadata enrichment, and to use the ActivityPub protocol to document dialogue with specific audiences, is appealing.

Why do I keep bringing up this topic?
Because #ATproto is often put in the same category as #ActivityPub (“open protocols yay”) but I strongly disagree with that stance
After reading, it leaves me with concerns that are not dev related.
1. If there's xlarge $ infusions involved, it means profit will always be 1st, and fuck the tech. They will never care.
2. If they'll eat their young once - and don't wince about it - they WILL do it again and enjoy it more aggressively every time.
3. Once they have a taste of their own, they'll feed on other's 'outside the family'.
They want performing monkeys, not projects with merit.

As you can imagine, it all starts with #freesoftware, and in our case, #publicpolicy. #Tainacan began as a tool for publishing #digitalcollections and, over 10 years, became part of Latin America’s open cultural digital infrastructure. As a #WordPress plugin, it helped low-budget institutions adopt it easily—and now it’s attracting larger #museums too. Our current focus is bringing digital collections into #theFediverse.

Across Europe and the US, people rally against authoritarianism. That solidarity matters; but it rings hollow when it ignores those living under far harsher repression!
When commentary from afar ends up excusing a violent regime or dismissing the desperation of its victims, it doesn’t challenge tyranny, but shields it.
Stand against oppression everywhere, without turning those already suffering into the cost of your stance.
