@_elena I had the same emotion when I formally deleted my Apple account. I had it for nearly two decades.
@_elena I'm going to verify it with generated photo because I sure as hell am not sending them my real ID, especially given they had a breach losing user private data just months ago. But I only really have Discord because some treat it as their webpage or main message board.
@_elena i wish Xitter would do that to my account since they kicked me off for saying naughty things about the 🍊💩two years ago.

@_elena Tuta recently deleted my account as well because I could not login into it for 6 months 😊 (it is blocked in my country)

I actually could use VPN and log in but I just didn’t have a reason to even check Tuta mail. I used Tuta to create my work account on GitHub and not for active communication.

Something like Mattermost but federated, ideally, so transition is smoother and possibly even considered))

@_elena I intend to delete my account when the age verification goes live as a way of sending a message to them. I always found Discord too complex. For example, I’d get a push notification when someone made a post, so I’d tap on the notification thinking it would take me to the post but instead it just took me to the server and forced me to hunt for the post. I’ve turned off all notifications. I can’t remember when I last checked any servers I’m a member of.

Notifications drive me crazy on Matrix, too, though.
I have a red bubble that says "1" but I don't have any unread messages and I spent waaaaay too much time hunting that thing down in every single room I'm part of. Still says "1". I hate it. So I turned off badges for Element X 🫠
@_elena Hooray! I like it when big tech says they'll delete my accounts. It saves me the trouble of going through their dark patterns of trying to cancel it on my own. (That said, telling big tech to stuff it is most satisfying when it works. :))
