Sorry but Pixelfed users don't want to see WordPress/Ghost/WriteFreely posts in feeds just because they have an image attachment.

The purpose of Pixelfed is photo sharing, that is the context, not the caption, the caption can be empty, because it's not the focus.

Let the microblogging platforms handle this.

@dansup maybe we should do a poll about this. I certainly DO want to see image posts from other platforms in Pixelfed even if they are from articles.

I am of the opinion of Dan. If we have specialized platforms like Pixelfed, it’s to focus on some specific purpose (here, photography). If you want a generalistic platform, there are other apps such as Friendica. Otherwise we end up with all apps doing everything but not very well.

Open to a poll of course!

@barbapulpe @dansup I am not claiming that Pixelfed should support all post types. But people use WordPress as photoblogs. There are lots of projects in the fediverse that make photo posts even if they are not specific photo sharing platforms. The whole point of the fediverse is interoperability...

Sure. What I can say is that I receive Mastodon posts with images in Pixelfed so interoperability is at least partially there.

@barbapulpe I think your missing the context of this situation. WordPress was adding more support for federating its image posts Pixelfed and Dan was seemingly pushing back
